The Wine Cellar Book’s initial screen shows you a list of the wines in your cellar, by clicking on a particular wine it will show you the details about it on different notebook pages, i.e. clicking on the tab “Consumptions” will show you all the consumptions details of this wine.

Beverage list and wine details

Information which is required (or at least useful) for each wine is predefined in the database provided with the application, this will reduce the time spent entering information about a wine, as it includes such data as:

  • over 200 countries
  • over 180 currencies
  • over 1,680 geographical and wine regions
    • France - over 700 AOC’s and VDQS
    • Australia - over 60 regions
    • Italy - over 300 DOC’s etc
    • United States - over 150 regions
    • and more for Argentina, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand, South Africa, Slovenia, Greece etc
  • over 80 category codes (e.g. AOC, DOC, QbA or OPAP, etc.)
  • over 4,600 cepage types used in wine production
  • over 16,100 cepage synonyms (e.g. Syrah and Shiraz, or Blauburgunder and Pinot Noir, or Pinot Franc and Pinot Noir)
  • 20 bottle sizes
  • 15 wine families as defined by Larousse des Vins

The sections of the screen are:

  • Menu bar, at the top and it gives you access to many functions
  • Tool bar, just below the menu bar, it gives you fast access to the following:
    • Purchase Wine
    • Copy Wine
    • Delete Wine
    • Consumption Event
    • Consumption Batch
    • Tool tips
    • Context sensitive help
    • Filter
    • Cellar Filter
    • Maintain producer
    • Maintain supplier
    • Maintain guest book
    • Display your wine racks in a graphical format
    • Display charts about your wines
    • Access The Recipe Book
  • Wine listing
    • With multiple user selectable sort orders, you can also configure the order of the columns and their width.
  • Wine search (the fields are not labled, but holding your mouse cursor over it will show a tool tip)
    • By name
    • By vintage
    • By maturity best
    • By maturity first
    • By maturity past
    • By purchase price
    • By storage location
    • A check box allows you to include wines with zero quantity on hand
    • By Vinoté tag number or another bar code system you use
    • By Country
    • By Geographical Region
    • By Wine Region
    • By Grape Variety
    • A drop down list allows you to select the sorting order
  • Multiple tabs with:
    • Wine detail information
    • Vintage/Bottle information
    • Purchase information
    • Consumption information
    • Tasting information
    • Rating information
    • Image information
    • Pairs well with (food and wine matching)
    • Bottle tag information (Vinoté - optional support)
