• Copy Wine
• This did not work correctly, i.e. after copy one could not add a vintage to that wine.
Thanks to Lars J. for reporting this problem.

Thanks to Lars J. for reporting this problem.
Release 1.7.402.9 - February 2006
This is a minor release correcting a few problems with the initial version 1.7.
• Clicking on a list header would not work correctly if one had just deleted a wine.
Thanks to Roland C. for reporting this problem.
• The image details tab would sometimes not work correctly. Thanks to Roland C. for
reporting this problem.
• The notes on the consumption event would not get saved in some situations.

reporting this problem.
• If you use a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 (or larger) the beverage list will now show
about 20 wines instead of the 8 wines it did before.
• If, when trying to change the proportion between the beverage list and the wine details
on the main screen, one reduces the wine details section too much, the application would
hang. Thanks to Hege C. for reporting this problem.
• When you use the bottle tag search dialog (on Purchase tab or on New Wine Dialog) and
you do not select a first tag number it will cause an error. Thanks to Hege C. for
reporting this problem.
Release 1.7.392.9 - January 2006
• Notes fields
• Notes fields allow the entry of large amounts of text. You may paste (CTRL-V) text
from the clipboard into them, you may also copy from them (CTRL-C). Note that if
you paste text with font attributes (Italic, Bold, Underline etc) it will be lost at this
time, just plain text is saved. Support for font attributes will probably be introduced
in a future release after some of the programming tools I use allow me to implement
it.
• Guest dialog
• For each guest there is one of the new notes fields.
• For each consumption event there is also a new notes field - on guest dialog it is read
only.
• Consumption event dialog
• One of the new notes field has been added, it will also be shown on the guest dialog.
• Category
• The field “Quality” (e.g. on the Wine details tab) has been renamed to “Category” as
we feel it is a better description.
• Rating tab
• Here we have one of the new notes fields, so you can enter detailed information
about the rating.
• Tasting tab
• Here we have another one of the new notes fields, which allows you to enter much
more text notes about the tasting.
• All remark fields have been changed to display multiple lines, easier to enter more
text, and the limit has been increased to 600 characters per field. For more text
please use the new notes field mentioned above.
• A new tasting system has been added “100 - Matzner Zapfen ab”, Mr Matzner is co-founder of the “Wine Tasting Club” in Zürich (Switzerland) and has also published a
book called “Zapfen ab” (“Uncorked”) about wine tasting with publisher Orell Füssli.
In it he documents their wine tasting method (Copyright by Matzner 2004).
Information about their wine tastings and tasting forms can be found on their site (
www.vinicus.ch ). One of the nice features about their tasting method is that it
includes a cost efficiency factor.
• Should you use this tasting system you might need to adjust the appropriate
master data record. There are two fields you can adjust “Value for 100 points”
and “Value for 0.5 points”. In the “Zapfen ab” book Matzner recommends Sfr.
44.00 respectively Sfr. 0.50. If your home currency is Euros we would suggest to
set these values to Euro 30.00 respectively Euro 0.35.
• Wine details tab
• Button to access the wine region search dialog
• Button to access the supplier dialog
• Button to access the producer dialog
• Button to access the category dialog

Thanks to Patrick D. for reporting this.
• Added the new notes field to both dialogs - see above
• Added a purchase transaction history tab for both dialogs
• Wine search
• A new sort order is available - Drink Type, Wine name, Vintage
• Wine search is now always looking anywhere in wine name and wine name 2,
therefore you no longer need to put a “%” in front of the search text.
• Charts
• Better verification of entered values. Thanks to François T. for reporting this.
• Vinoté tags
• Replaced the combobox to select a tag on the purchase tab and the new wine dialog
with a search dialog. Better flexibility and faster when you have lots of tags.
• Vinoté Printable Tags
• With this release the support for the Vinoté bottle tag has been extended to
support their printable tags.
• After purchasing these tags from Vinoté you need to define one or more lots in
Master Data / Bottle tags by selecting “Vinoté print. tags” from the drop down
menu.
• When you purchase a wine you can then assign these tag numbers to the wine and
you can then print these tags/labels using Printing/Labels and Tags / Vinoté
Printable Tags. After selecting that menu option you will be asked for the
position of the first label, e.g. if last time you printed labels 1 to 6, then you
would enter 7 for the first label. The system will then skip the first 6 label spaces
and start printing the information for your newly purchased wine as of label 7.
• Vinoté Snap Tags
• With this release we support the printing of labels which you can stick onto the
new Vinoté Snap Tags.
• Currently we support two types
• Agipa ( www.agipa.com ) ref 118991 or 128993 48.5 mm x 25.4 mm
• Avery Europe ( http://www.avery.co.uk ) ref L7654 or J8654 45.7 mm x 25.4
mm
• Printing
• The menu Reports has been renamed to Printing
• Several sub-menus have been added to better organize all the printing options.
• A wine card can now be printed. This will print detailed information about a wine,
including tasting notes, ratings, purchase and consumption history for that wine.
Thanks to Daniel P. and Kurt for suggesting this.
• You can print the card for the selected wine by clicking the button “Print card” on
the Vintage/Bottle tab or by selecting the menu option Printing/Cellar
Books/Wine card.
• New report for purchase transaction history by supplier
• New report for purchase transaction history by producer
• New report for all purchase transactions by year
• New cellar book report sorted by country
• New event report (thanks to Thierry F. For suggesting this)
• Wine region search dialog
• Added comboboxes to only show wine regions of a selected country and
geographical region.
• Added a button to access the country dialog
• Added a button to access the geographical region dialog
• Added a button to access the wine region dialog
• Virtual list controls (used for lists with lots of data, e.g. the drinks list, the guest list)
• You can now sort by a column by just clicking on the column header with the left
mouse button.
• On second click on the same column the sort order will be reversed.
• The column by which you sorted is indicated by a down or up arrow depending on
sort order
• Icons
• All drink type icon images have been changed, and additional images were added.
Thanks to Patrick D. for the idea.
• Master data
• Category codes are now user maintainable
• Tasting system codes are partially user maintainable - currently only data relating to
the Matzner tasting method
• Seal type codes have been introduced on the bottle tab and they are user maintainable
Release 1.6.351.9 - September 2005
• After setting the preference setting for default filter to nothing the program can not be
started. The preference dialog has been updated so that this is no longer possible.
Thanks to Roger L. for reporting this.
Release 1.6.350.9 - September 2005
• Users with special characters in their Windows login name could not use the new version
1.6.348.9. Thanks to François T. for reporting this.
Release 1.6.348.9 - August 2005
• Image detail tab
• On this tab you can assign images to your wine records, the main usage will probably
be for wine bottle labels, but as it allows an unlimited number of images per wine you
can also assign other pictures (e.g. a picture of the vinery etc etc).
• Note that the pictures are kept in a folder (named “images”) under the folder which
contains your database (in a standard install this will be:
C:\TheWineCellarBook\images). Therefore when you backup your data to e.g. a CD
or DVD (or some other media) you should include that folder.
• Database corrections
• The French Geo. Region “Doubs” is now correctly spelt - Thanks to Pierre V. for
pointing this out.
• Added “Beaumes de Venise” as a new wine region for France
• “Humagne Blanche” is added to the system as a new grape variety
• “Humagne Blanche” is added to the system as a new synonym for “Humagne
Blanche”
• “Humagne Rouge” is added to the system as a new synonym for “Petit Rouge”
• Thanks to François T. for pointing out that “Humagne” grapes were missing
• Toolbar
• The image for the consumption event tool has been changed, it is now an upside
down bottle combined with the guest symbol.
• Consumption batch is a new tool, between the consumption event and the tool tip
tool.
• This is a new dialog allowing you to enter multiple consumption entries in an easy
and fast way, similar to the consumption event but without assigning guests to
consumptions.
• Reports
• When running reports such as (Cellar book, Consumption Reason, Purchase and
Consumption Reason and Past Maturity) you can now lookup the drink type ID
number.
• A new Cellar Book 2 report has been added. Thanks to Kurt S. for the suggestion
and Report Manager related testing.
• On-line help
• Has been a bit updated.
• Menu Master data
• Bottle tag dialog has been moved to last position as it is an optional feature
• Bottle code dialog
• New dialog which allows you to define new bottle sizes and/or change existing
ones.
• Image type dialog
• New dialog which allows you to define image types and/or change existing ones.
These are used on the new tab for images, e.g. an image could be a bottle label or
an image of the vinery etc etc.
• Grape variety dialog
• New dialog which allows you to define and/or change grape variety information.
• Grape variety synonym dialog
• New dialog which allows you to define and/or change grape variety synonym
information.
• All dialogs
• A context help button (question mark) has been added to all dialogs. Click on this
button and then on the control (“field”) you need help on and the context help text
will be displayed. Should you find context help texts which are too brief (short) and
don’t explain things well enough please let me know and I will correct it in a future
version.
• New wine dialog
• It is now possible to create a supplier/producer directly from this dialog by clicking
on the corresponding button.
• Menu File
• Optimize database option
• This will create a backup and then restore it. This will optimize the indices and as
a larger page size is defined for the restore it will also optimize some of the larger
tables. Note that it creates a backup copy of the database (named
“OLDTwcb’date and time’.fdb”) before optimizing it, this file can be deleted after
you verified that all works correctly (i.e. you can edit a wine and view all the
different screens).
• Wine search
• An error would be created if search text contained “‘” (apostrophe).
• Space and “-“ are now allowed characters in the wine name search field
• By default wines with zero quantity are no longer shown - check box “Incl. Zero”
• Cuvee dialog
• An error would be created if search text contained “‘” (apostrophe).
• Wine region search dialog
• An error would be created if search text contained “‘” (apostrophe).
• Wine search dialog (used by consumption event and batch dialogs)
• An error would be created if search text contained “‘” (apostrophe).
• Vintage/Bottle tab
• When you click e.g. the button “Add vintage” other buttons are still available and
pressing them could cause an error. Now pressing any “Add” button will de-activate
all other buttons, obviously except the “Save changes” button.
• Right mouse click
• Using the right mouse button will bring up a menu which in turn will cause an error
when done on Combobox controls (e.g. Filter, Cellar, region etc). The menu will no
longer be shown until I find that it is useful to have (e.g. copy/paste on these
controls).
• Tools update
• Upgraded Report Manager to 2.4e
Release 1.5.312.9 - July 2005
This is mainly a bug/problem correction release. A few problems/bugs have crept in during
the conversion of the application to the new tool set I am using and a few others were found
which were hiding out there for some time.
• Wine search
• When selecting a new sort order it will take immediate effect without having to click
on the search button
• Charts Dialog
• Entering invalid year ranges would cause errors.
• New Wine Dialog
• De-selecting a wine region would not de-select the quality code.
• Trying to select a Wine Region without first selecting a Geographic Region would
cause an program error instead of just showing a empty selection box (combobox). -
Thanks to Rick B. for reporting this one.
• Current Value is now set to the purchase price
• If currency exchange rate is not defined for the purchase currency the last purchase
price will now be set to the price entered on the purchase instead of setting it to zero.
- Thanks to Rick B. for pointing this out.
• Purchase tab
• Current Value is now set to the purchase price unless it already contains a value.
• If currency exchange rate is not defined for the purchase currency the last purchase
price will now be set to the price entered on the purchase instead of setting it to zero.
• Wine Details
• Trying to select a Wine Region without first selecting a Geographic Region would
cause an program error instead of just showing a empty selection box (combobox).
• About screen
• None of the links were working
• Upgrading from 1.0 or 1.1
• Trying to upgrade from either of these version to 1.5 was not working. - Thanks to
Nick R. for reporting this one.
Release 1.5.301.9 - June 2005
• Graphical charts
• A new toolbar button has been added. It provides access to a selection of graphical
charts, currently they include:
• Purchase and consumption line chart for the selected number of years, both for
values or quantities purchased.
• Purchase and consumption line chart per selected drink type, for the selected
number of years and for values or quantities purchased.
• Quantity on-hand per country as a pie chart
• Cellar Maturity line chart per selected drink type.
• Wine search
• Four new search fields have been added.
• Price From and Price To allow you to search for wines with a Last Purchase Price
which is between these two.
• Storage Location allows you to search for wines by storage location, note that
this field allows for wild card search. I.e. if you enter “Rack-23.1“ then only
wines in that location will show, however if you enter “Rack-2%“ note the “%”
then all wines in storage locations starting with “Rack-2“ will show.
• Zero on-hand, if you leave it “un-clicked” then only wines which you have in the
cellar will show, otherwise wines you have had, i.e. have zero quantity on hand
will also show. This is useful when you purchase a new vintage for a wine you
have had in the past. Search for it by clicking this control, select the wine and
click on the toolbar icon “Purchase Vintage” (second from left).
• The sort order for the beverage list is now user selectable. The default is the current
sort order (Wine name, Vintage), other options are Country, Geo. Region, Wine
Region, Vintage, Maturity Best, Maturity First and Maturity Past. Additional sort
orders will be added based on user requests.
• Note that the field labels have been removed to save two lines on the display.
Obviously the tool tip will still show you what each field is for, as will the context
help and on plus when you select a particular field a help string is shown in the status
bar (bottom of the screen).
• Master data menu has four new items
• Country codes, allows you to add or change information, inclusive translation.
• Geographical regions, allows you to add or change information, inclusive translation.
• Wine regions, allows you to add or change information, inclusive translation.
• Vineyard, allows you to add, change or delete information about a vineyard (US wine
regions such as Napa often use vineyard to define where the grapes came from).
Please note that your existing database may contain some test vineyard information
for the Alsace region, you should just delete them.
• Wine details tab
• The way you can define a vineyard has been changed. There is now a button to the
left of the field, when you click it a dialog will be shown (the same as accessible
through the Menu/Master Data/Vineyard codes - see above).
• Reports
• The reports in Landscape format did not print for people using 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
Thanks to Kurt at http://www.baycountryliquors.com/softlink.htm for reporting this.
• Report headers are translated into French and German, the selection criteria prompt
is unfortunately still in English (have not found a solution for this yet).
• Print label on the vintage/bottle tab would only work if storage location starts with
“Rack”.
• Vintage/Bottle tab
• Two new buttons have been added
• Purchase Vintage - this will open the new wine dialog with the wine related fields
already filled in (and protected from change) and it allows to create the vintage,
bottle and purchase record in one step.
• Purchase Bottle - similar to above, the section for the vintage is already filled in
too.
• Purchase tab
• A new check box “Update Last Purchase Price” has been added, it allows you to
update the Last Purchase Price when changing an existing purchase record. When
creating a new purchase it will be checked by default, otherwise it will be un-checked. If you enter a “0.00" price it will be un-checked.
• Tool bar
• Most icons used on the tool bar have been reworked, hopefully for the better! If an
icon shows in grey tones then the button is NOT available at that point, currently this
only works on Windows XP, on Windows 2000 a square grey area is shown.
• Tools update
• This is technical and you won’t see much about it, however it allowed me to do
things like translating the report headers, nicer tool bar icons etc.
• Upgraded tools (Python 2.4, wxPython 2.6, kinterbasdb 3.1, Report Manager 2.3
and the installer Inno Setup 5)
• New tools and especially the graphic tool used require more space on the hard disk,
the application directory is now using about 40MB.
• Initial install
• Corrected problem of the 1.4 install that if you selected “English” as your language
the system did not update the active language tables with the correct values. Thanks
to Kurt at http://www.baycountryliquors.com/softlink.htm for reporting this.
• Windows 9x
• Corrected the problem of running out of System and User Resources when starting
The Wine Cellar Book on Windows 98 or Windows ME and other programs
(AntiVirus, Internet Provider, Word etc etc) are already running.
• This was very difficult to identify as the error messages can be just about anything, it
all depends on the available resources when you start the program.
• With version 1.4 or earlier of The Wine Cellar Book you can in most cases work
around the problem by first starting the Microsoft Resource Meter (menu
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools), this tool is somehow forcing the OS to
release unused resources.
Release 1.4.204.9 - February 2005
• Guest book
• This new feature allows you to define guests and track what wines you have served
when to whom.
• A dialog can be accessed from the tool bar, on it you can change and/or create new
guests
• For each guest it shows which consumption event he/she participated in
• For each consumption event it shows what was consumed and which other guest
participated in that event.
• It is also possible from this dialog to edit an existing consumption event.
• Consumption Event
• This new feature allows you to create a consumption event, which includes a
description of the event, a reason and a date, you can then add guests and
consumptions.
• On the guest dialog (see above) you can see this information and can therefore find
out what wine did you serve when to whom and who else was present.
• Tool bar
• Maintain guest book dialog is a new tool bar icon (currently all the way on the right
hand side), see above for further details.
• Create Consumption Event dialog is a new tool bar icon (currently in between
“Delete wine” and “Tool Tips”, see above for further details
• Maintain Consumption Event dialog is a new tool bar icon (currently second last on
the right) which allows you to search consumption events, create and change them.
• New Icon for Purchase Wine
• New Icon for Maintain Supplier and Maintain Producer
• Master data dialogs
• The dialogs supporting multiple languages have been simplified. They include the
reason code, drink type and rating type dialogs.
• A new dialog has been added allowing you to define bottle tag lots (see below)
• Wine bottle tag support
• The system now supports wine bottle tags for purchases and the new consumption
event.
• The type of bottle tags supported are currently Vinoté numbered neck tags and
Vinoté numbered wrap tags. You can find out more about these tags on their web
site at: http://www.vinote.com/
• If you like to use this you have to activate the feature in File/Preferences and stop
and start The Wine Cellar Book.
• The Vinoté tags are sold in lots of 250, which you have to define through the dialog
Master Data/Bottle tags.
• The procedures to entering wine purchases and consumption events support the entry
of wine bottle tags, you assign the first tag and the system will automatically assign
the correct number of tags based on the quantity entered.
• You will also see a new notebook tab showing you all the bottle tags assigned to that
wine.
• Date on listctrl(s), e.g. purchase, consumption, tasting, rating etc shows now all dates in
the user selected form with the sorting (by clicking on column header) still working
correctly.
• Purchase new wine dialog
• You can now enter the cuvee without having to first save the wine.
• Please note that the “Save” button is now also closing the dialog.
• Should you click on the close button (top right of dialog) you will now get a warning
in case you entered data which has not yet been saved.
• Reports
• Report Manager upgraded to version 2.2
• This allows barcode printing on e.g. the cellar label.
• Cellar labels
• The layout has been changed, it should be easier to read in your cellar. It now
also includes the bottle ID which is handy to record your consumption (see the
new consumption event feature), it is shown both as a bar code and as a number.
• Technical
• Calculation of quantity purchased and consumed for each bottle is now handled
directly by the database. This speeds up operation if you have many purchase or
consumption items and makes program maintenance a bit easier.
• Upgrade of the database
• During the first use of The Wine Cellar Book your existing database will be upgraded
to adjust it to the version 1.4 structure.
• The upgrade will perform a backup before modifying anything.
• The backup and the actual upgrading of the database will take about 1 minute (on a
Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM), this depends obviously on which version you are
currently using.
• Please note that you might see multiple upgrade messages, e.g. if you are currently on
1.2, then the program will upgrade first to 1.3 and then to 1.4
• Changed the column Winenames in the table Cellarbook and the view VCBOOK to
only include the “, “ when there is text present in the second wine name field.
• Added new tables GUEST to support guest tracking (see above for more details)
• Added new tables BOTTAGTYPE, BOTTAGLOT, and BOTTAG to support Vinoté
wine bottle tags.
• Added new tables CONSEVENT, CONSEVENTIT and CONSEVENTGL to
support the consumption event feature.
Release 1.3.178.9 - December 2004
• Bug fix release
• Wine search did not work when using any of the Best, First and Past maturity fields -
Thanks to Patrick O. for finding this one.
• Status message would not clear in problem error dialog
• Problem reports where sent to my private e-mail address instead of
support@thewinecellarbook.com
Release 1.3.175.9 - November 2004
• Upgrade of the database
• During the first use of The Wine Cellar Book your existing database will be upgraded
to adjust it to the version 1.3 structure.
• The upgrade will perform a backup before modifying anything.
• The backup and the actual upgrading of the database will take about 1 minute (on a
Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM) if you upgrade from 1.0 or 1.1 and less if you upgrade
from 1.2.
• Added a few more wine regions for Chile
• Added a table to support the configuration of listctrl’s (see below)
• Installation can now be done either with an “Administrator” or “Power User” account
• All displays have been optimized for 1024*768 resolution.
• You no longer need to do any horizontal scrolling. To accomplish this we had to
change the size of columns on all the listctrl’s and on the beverage list we had to hide
a few columns (if you don’t like how we did this see the following item - it allows
you to change the list to your liking).
• Obviously they will still work with higher resolutions, you will just see more records
in all the listctrl’s.
• The beverage list (a listctrl) can now be configured (see Menu Master Data/Listctrl
configuration), you can define how wide the columns are, the order of the columns and
you can hide a column by setting its width to zero.
• Wine search
• A new option has been added to allow to search by grape variety - Thanks to F.
Kesselring for the suggestion.
• Enhanced the Geographical Region and Wine Region search options, instead of
showing all possible regions it now shows only regions used on wines in your cellar.
• Note: Only one or the other can be used, the system will automatically blank out
the entry in the other selection box when it receives focus.
• ALT-s is a new shortcut to press the Search button (In French version it is Alt-r)
• Create new wine dialog
• There is a button allowing you to search wine regions (above country), if you
selected a wine region the fields wine region, geographical region, country and
quality (if the region defines a quality code) will be filled in for you.
• It now also has a context sensitive help button at the bottom of the dialog allowing
you to access context sensitive help on all the fields/control on this dialog.
• Language support
• If anyone is interested in doing e.g. an Italian or Spanish translation please contact
me at (wbruhin@thewinecellarbook.com) .
• French translation (ou la traduction français) off the application is done. You can
either select the language during installation (second prompt) or anytime after, by just
going to File/Preferences where you just need to change the language. All the texts
will then be changed when you exit the preferences dialog. Quit a few of the database
tables are also language “sensitive” and will also be updated (these include the tables:
countries, geographical regions, wine regions, bottle sizes, drink types, rating types
and reasons). Please note that while all these tables are language sensitive I did not
get around to translate all of the entries, or in some cases translation doesn’t make
much sense (e.g. in ratings there is no sense in trying to translate “Parker” or “Wine
Spectator”. This means that when you select e.g. “Français” as your language you
might still see codes for the above tables in English.
• Unfortunately I won’t get around to do the on-line help files and most of the web
site, they will remain in English at least for the moment.
• Please note that Geographical and Wine regions are mostly kept in the language of
their country (e.g. German for German wine regions, French for French ones etc).
• “Active” field has been removed from displays
• It could be set (a checkbox) on the vintage/bottle tab, and was displayed in the
beverage list etc.
• As this field is automatically managed by the system, e.g. if there is any inventory for
a wine it is set to “True” otherwise to “False”, there is no sense of having it on a
display.
• The field still exists in the database and is used as a selection criteria in both reports
and for the beverage filters.
• Consumption History - by reason report
• This is a new report giving you information on your consumption per year and by
type of consumption reason.
• The report can be accessed through the menu reports.
• Past maturity report
• This report allows you now to select a from/to year selection criteria.
• Bug correction - New Wine Dialog
• The maturity information for the bottle record was not saved to the database when
using this dialog
• It is much faster now when you use it a second time during the same session.
• New Wine (old version)
• The old method to create a wine using the different tabs has been removed. I don’t
like to take existing functionality away, so if this should be a problem for someone
please let me know and I will re-introduce it.
• New icon for the taskbar option “Copy Wine”
Release 1.2.143.9 - October 2004
• Upgrade of the database
• During the first use of The Wine Cellar Book your existing database will be upgraded
to adjust it to the version 1.2 structure.
• The upgrade will perform a backup before modifying anything.
• The backup and the actual upgrading of the database will take less then 1 minute (on
a Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM).
• The upgrade included a couple of new data entries (quality code “IGT” for Italy, and
a language code “English - user defined” to allow English speaking users to custom
translate some of the application) and some additional translations for German and
French (for reasons, bottle sizes, drink types and rating types).
• Note that future upgrades might update the translations, so do not use an existing
code for something different then it was intended, it is better that you create a new
English code and translate that one. Future upgrades will only update existing entries
(based on the master database we have) and/or add new entries, therefore new entries
you created yourself will not be affected by a future upgrade.
• Telephone and Facsimile numbers
• The format for these fields on the supplier and producer maintenance dialogs have
changed to be a lot less restrictive. You may now enter spaces or punctuation and
actually also alpha characters. Sorry if these changes causes anyone a problem, I
could just not come up with a format which would work for everyone (e.g. handling
US, French, German etc phone number formats).
• Reports
• All reports are now available from a menu within The Wine Cellar Book. Note if you
run the reports from the shortcuts you still need to exit The Wine Cellar Book.
• On the Vintage/Bottle tab you can now print a cellar label for just that one bottle.
• Wine search now considers both Wine name and Wine name 2 fields
• Screen layouts have been adjusted to better support 1024x768 resolution
• ODBC
• Upgraded Firebird ODBC driver to version 1.2.0.69
• Integration of report installer
• All reports are now included in the base install, there is NO separate report installer
as of version 1.2.
• kinterbasdb
• The Python database access module upgraded to version 3.1pre8
• Backup database
• The new kinterbasdb module allows to do a backup, so now there is a new menu
option under File which allows you to perform a backup.
• Restore database
• The new kinterbasdb module allows to do a restore, so now there is a new menu
option under File which allows you to perform a restore.
• Language support
• When changing the language in File/Preferences the system will now change all the
language tables to the selected language and the text on the display. Note that some
texts, e.g. column headers in the listctrl, entries in combobox, text on the toolbar will
NOT be updated until you restart The Wine Cellar Book (this might change in the
future, if I find a way to dynamically update them)..
• If anyone is interested in doing e.g. an Italian or Spanish translation please contact
me at (wbruhin@thewinecellarbook.com).
• German translation (oder die deutsche Übersetzung) off the application is done. You
can either select the language during installation (second prompt) or anytime after, by
just going to File/Preferences where you just need to change the language. All the
texts will then be changed when you exit the preferences dialog. Quite a few of the
database tables are also language “sensitive” and will also be updated (these include
the tables: countries, geographical regions, wine regions, bottle sizes, drink types,
rating types and reason). Please note that while all these tables are language sensitive
I did not get around to translate all of the entries. This means that when you select
e.g. “Deutsch” as your language you might still see codes for the above tables in
English.
• Unfortunately I won’t get around to do the on-line help files and most of the web
site, they will remain in English.
• Please note that Geographical and Wine regions are mostly kept in the language of its
country and are not translated.
• Icons show again in drinks list, however need to find a better background to make them
clearer.
• New - Maintenance dialog for drink type codes
• This dialog allows you to maintain the translation of these codes. If you want to
create a code which does NOT exist in English you will have to create first an
English entry, only then can you translate it.
• After you added and/or translated some entries you have to click on the button
“Synchronize language table” to activate these changes.
• New - Maintenance dialog for rating type codes
• This dialog allows you to maintain the translation of these codes. If you want to
create a code which does NOT exist in English you will have to create first an
English entry, only then can you translate it.
• After you added and/or translated some entries you have to click on the button
“Synchronize language table” to activate these changes.
• New - Maintenance dialog for reason codes
• This dialog allows you to maintain the translation of these codes. If you want to
create a code which does NOT exist in English you will have to create first an
English entry, only then can you translate it.
• After you added and/or translated some entries you have to click on the button
“Synchronize language table” to activate these changes.
