Reports - Overview

The reports provided with “The Wine Cellar Book” are all written using a report writing tool called The Report Manager developed by Toni Martir. Included with “The Wine Cellar Book” is only the run time version of this tool, however should you like to change an existing report or create your own you can download the full version from http://reportman.sourceforge.net .

Should you decide to change an existing report we recommend that you save it using another name, so when you download a new version of the reports from our site your changes will not get lost. Please read Reports - Report Manager installation if you consider to write your own or changing reports.

The reports can be run from within “The Wine Cellar Book”, select the appropriate report from the menu Printing.

The install program created a menu for all the reports which you can access via the MS Windows Start menu button.

The preview of the report will show multiple buttons, all of them have a Tool Tips explaining their function, the two you will use most of the time are the following.

Send report via e-mail

If you click on the button ... you can search for a particular value, e.g. the number representing “Red wine” for drink types, or the number for a particular event or wine etc.

Paper size

Unless otherwise stated the reports are designed to work with either A4 paper size (210mm x 297mm), or 8.5 x 11 inch paper size.

Access error

The database driver used allows single user access only, therefore when you want to run the reports from outside “The Wine Cellar Book” (i.e. from the Windows Start menu) you need to exit “The Wine Cellar Book”.

Should you see the following error dialog then you either have another report file open, or “The Wine Cellar Book” program is running.
